I’m so proud to post this pic of some of my grandad’s crew of the B-29A “To each his own” (pin-up) Superfortress heavy bomber.
They were members of the U.S. Air Force 98th bombardment wing. Grandad considered the pin-up a symbol of good luck and mission successes. He called her “Dorothy” and said he always patted her knee before take-off.
Years later, the guys would have annual reunions and for one reunion we had the pin-up art turned into a t-shirt emblem. The guys tried them on with tears in their eyes. BTW, the pin-up girls on this site are awesome!
